Marketing tips may help graduate’s job search
It is time for graduating seniors to think about that first job search if campus interviews have not turned up any offers.
Although the job climate has improved over past years, many grads, especially liberal arts majors, are still going to have a difficult time finding a software jobs in India.
Here are some suggestions:
Create a results-oriented resume that emphasizes your abilities, focus and work experience. Stress accomplishments and any recognition that you may have received. Make your resume reflect you.
Develop your networking contacts. Look to parents, family, friends and neighbors for advice on job leads. Don’t be too proud to ask for help. Their introductions can open doors that would otherwise be closed to you. You can pay them back by being successful and performing your job well.
Consider all types and sizes of companies. Big companies are nice to work for, but small companies sometimes offer greater responsibility and a chance to learn faster.
Use those college alumni contacts. Other graduates from your school, especially not-so-recent ones, usually have a warm feeling toward other classmates. They are normally willing to help people from their alma mater to network and supply Jobs in Hyderabad.
Compose individual cover letters to accompany resumes you send out. The cover letter should address how well you meet the requirements for the position utilizing appropriate industry language and knowledge. Stating that you need a job or want employment is not enough, you must sell your talents and potential.
Prepare for each interview on an individual basis. Learn, through research, about each company’s products and services. By educating yourself on each individual company, you reflect interest, energy and a willingness to work hard and contribute.
To make a positive impression, make a list of intelligent and appropriate questions to ask during the interview.
Be prepared for the “dumb” questions. Tell me about yourself? Why did you select your major? What was your most/least difficult subject? Why do you want to work for us?
Dress for success. Show respect for the interview situation and the interviewer by dressing in business attire.
Even if you know the atmosphere is casual, do not join in by wearing jeans or casual clothes. Make a good impression.
Dress like you care about yourself and the company.
Show enthusiasm about the company, job and the interviewer. Complacency makes come off as negative. Most companies are not interested in hiring grumps. Put on your happy face and be friendly.
Pre-select your references before you go to an interview. Make sure the references know you are going to use them, and select people for references that reflect good business judgment. Your girlfriend or drinking buddy should not be used.
Be willing to take a lesser job with a growing or newly created company just to get experience. You can either be promoted within that company or call on other companies once you have more experience.
Send a letter of thanks after each interview to keep your name fresh in the interviewer’s mind. Making the extra effort could turn the decision in your favor over someone else that was not as energetic. Even after rejections, keep a positive attitude and don’t burn bridges.
Grads need contacts within their industry, and interviews are a good place to make the right impression for later use.
